Kiddies games: Kite

I was really very active as a child.
I loved going outside with mates and play any available kiddies games.
Our imagination didn't get a borders.
We've playing with rope, jumping with elastic band, seek and hide and other team plays....There was so many of us out...
I think children don't know those kind of play now days.
They play more themself, have such a big range of outdoor toys that we even couldn't imagine about...but we've been so happy playing TOGETHER!
We had a freedom! I was going outside with my sisters and friend's only and the oldest was probably about six.
Most children are brought for additional activities by car, have no time just to go out and be bored...Can they find out what really they want to do?
There was healthy competition spirit, but help and deep friendships as well.
I think It is harder to find the best friend now.
I think I am a little bit to careful too. I have to prepare myself that my son will go out just himself shortly and he has to be prepared for a life without a  mum:-)

Franek has got a great kite for his birthday, so we couldn't wait to try it out:-)
He was very excited about it. He was assisting in setting it up and was very careful listener how to use it. Janek didn't know at all what's going on, but was running around feeling that something funny is going to happen...
Their faces - when the kite went up - priceless!
We invited Franek's best friends to play together with it.
We want him to know that fantastic feeling when you can share your fun and happiness and sadness also with your closest.

If it's going about Franek's birthday - we had fantastic fun, party was great and I have to say big THANK YOU to all guests and my friend Ola which baked hilarious Birthday cakes for us. Let's see below-it is an art, not just the cakes:-)

What about you? Did you have your favourite children's game that you can remember?

Kids health is in the air...

Welcome back to the world! I have so many things to tell (and write) about, that I couldn't decide how to start again:-)
Because we have 100% Irish weather today (and yesterday and the day before...), I've decided to say something about my children's health (in overall), wearing to the weather and lack of the internet...

My first golden rule for a healthy child is : go out for a walk for min 2 hours a day (in the summer twice a day).
When Franek was a little baby, going for a walk with him in a buggy was giving me a chance of meeting some other people around me and loose some extra pounds left after pregnancy. That was always my part of the day - to wear myself and go out to get new energy from the air. Sitting at home its just boring for me. When Franek was growing we started to take a short walks on feet. I could watch on the world with his baby eyes - every flower or stone had such an interesting shape and colour, different cars on the road...so on. I was talking to him and later with him about it:-)
When he was getting bigger and stronger he has got the first ride on, trike, than scooter and finally a bike. Those ride ones helped me when I wanted to go with him for a longer distance or just keep him busy when out. I think I don't need to explain the benefits of using those ride ons for a child:-)
I just want to say that going out with a baby doesn't need to be boring. If you can, find a friend with a child and go together - time goes quicker! And I do the same with both now. Off course its little bit harder to manage every day goings out for two - they have a little different routines and Franek goes to school, so he is always missing our morning walk.

Thankfully, when I was with no internet access, we have got a short two days, still quite cold, but sunny:-) We jumped in to the one of the fantastic playgrounds ( this one is in Malahide Co. Dublin). We've been missing so much those longer and warmer days! We could take off winter coats and just run around and play with the sand on the first time this year.
If its going about an internet and other media such a TV - its a benefit for a child when we don't have them at home for sure! At once we are getting much more time to spend together and talk or play. But this a topic for another post too.
Coming back to the health topic - my second rule is - do not wear your child as yourself! We have to remember that they are still on the move. So while we standing and looking at them most of the time, they doing a lot of exercises, so they feel much warmer than me. So I think the time for a lighter jacket came in. Its good to have to some additional layers under, that you can add or remove when needed. I still keep them with a hat, but only because of Irish spring wind.
I think the rules work - Franek is five this month and he never had an antibiotic and any serious infection. Janek had to get antibiotic twice, which is good result so far anyway.
Children wellbeing is a genetic and it is dependant of the food and sleeping routine as well, in my opinion:-)

I can't wait for more sunny days and planning short trips to the sea, farm, zoo...or wherever we can have a great fun outside:-)

Irish football !

I was always very active and busy as a child. I was dancing and giving concerts around the country with a children's dancing and singing crew. I loved my colourful, different costumes...We all have been so excited before each show.

I have been a runner in my school sport's club. In my earlier childhood, I was doing some gymnastics as well ( of course I am not able to do those things anymore!).

I can remember all those funny things, which happened on the stage. Many times I have been falling down or hit in some elements of the decoration on the middle of the stage; lost shoes or parts of the costumes...
I met so many fantastic people and could get in to some deep, great friendships.

So, when Franek started his school, I started to thing about some additional activities for him. At first, I thought, he is still to young. I want to give him a lot of play time, even to be bored. Child will create some fantastic things and activities, while bored:-)  You know about it!
But with a winter time, when we can't go just for a walk, because is slashing (rain), very strong wind, I decided that we can try football. I wasn't play football myself, but you can remember yours in your local GAA on Saturday mornings...

Mr Daddy goes on football with Franek usually. Last Saturday we went with whole the family there. I couldn't see too much, because was running after Janek (he could feel such a big space and didn't hesitate to use it:-). Finally I had to go outside with him...But when I came back to the gym hall and saw my little Franek with all those sports accessories...:-) and he has got a goal! I was nearly in tears! He was so happy, and I was so proud of him...This was the one of those feelings, you know..:-)

Children's eye clinic

Franek had an appointment to the orthoptist in Eye Clinic, so he didn't go to school today. But he loves going to school and wasn't happy... He was a little bit frightened as you can see on the pictures...

Why we are going to check Franek's eyes? I wear glasses all my life, so I am a little bit sensitive in this topic:-) When Franek was one year old, I saw something like a squint in his eyes, but only on the pictures. So, when we went for his check up, I asked about an consultation and since then we have  checking every half year.

The doctors said that his eyes are showing very little abnormality. Because it was no difference in seeing between both eyes, he didn't get lenses. The last time it looked, that everything is correct. But he was so shy that I didn't know how they can recognise it, when he was not able to tell anything.
Franek was great today! He told everything, what he could see, to the doctor. But we had some doubt, when he couldn't watch at the picture properly with a patch on eye... so we have another appointment in the next 6 months. I hope , that it was only some kind of shy as well. Kids can not concentrate on that kind of exercises to long:-) I am really happy, that Franek started to answer to the doctor. Janek had a great play time in the clinic as well:-)
Anyway, I am happy, that he is ok for now! If you have any doubt about your child seeing, don't wait - every day counts for a child. We have another appointment with Janek on Friday - as you can see, he has more serious seeing issues. So, I'll see you on Friday...
